Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (DfE) which has 7 areas of development:

Our activities are planned around these areas to help children progress during their time with us.

When children first start at Fun to Learn, we focus on personal, social and emotional development. This ensures our children have high self-esteem, giving them the confidence to separate from their main carers, bond with their key person and explore their learning environment.

Children begin to understand the rules and boundaries of the setting. Our experienced staff work with parents using positive behaviour management techniques such as praise and reward for good behaviour.

We have an Intervention Officer on site who is able to identify any children with additional needs. She will ensure that necessary interventions are put in place in order to meet the childrens needs.

Throughout the year, there are also many opportunities where parents/carers are invited to come into the setting for special occasions. We also operate an open door policy.

Each child has their own internet based profile, using Owl Track which parents will be able to access, add observations and upload photographs. Owl Track records your child’s progression through the Early Years Foundation Stage and helps us ensure they are making rapid progress. In this profile, we record the child’s interests, skills and abilities and draw up individual plans each term.

As part of our curriculum we are pleased to offer all 3 years olds Forest School Session by a qualified Forest School Leader. Sessions take place on a 4 weekly cycle. These sessions give children the opportunity to grow in confidence and self-esteem while deleveloping an understanding of the natural world.
